North Ormewood Street Sign Toppers

SAND is one of the beneficiaries of a 2022 Community Impact Grant (CIG) from the City of Atlanta. NPU-W applied for the grant to jumpstart Street Sign Topper Programs in the NPU-W neighborhoods (Grant Park, East Atlanta, and SAND). The city awarded the maximum CIG of $6,500 to NPU-W. The plan is to have a unique design for each neighborhood within SAND.

There is a question out as to how SAND should handle the Street Sign Toppers in North Ormewood Park. The main reason for that is that City of Atlanta officially views North Ormewood Park and Glenwood Park as part of Ormewood Park. In case you’re unfamiliar with the boundaries of North Ormewood Park, the western border is Glenwood Place between Glenwood Avenue and Stovall, with Stovall serving as the remaining portion of the western border heading north towards I-20. I-20 serves as the northern border. The eastern border is Moreland from I-20 down to the intersection with Glenwood Avenue. And lastly, the southern border is Glenwood Avenue, specifically the northern side of the street.

If you walk around North Ormewood Park you’ll see some corners with a Street Sign Topper saying the neighborhood is North Ormewood Park (southeast corner of Stovall Street and Faith Ave) while others say the neighborhood is Ormewood Park (southwest corner of Sanders Ave and Florida Ave).

Rather than making a decision of the neighbors in North Ormewood Park, SAND wanted to consult you all for your thoughts and opinions on what the neighborhood name should be on the toppers.
