Preservation of History & Future

SAND advocates for preserving the unique historical sites within our community, while looking forward to what our community can become. We are actively pursuing Landmark historic status for the 100+ year old neighborhood defining Ormewood Bridge, working hand in hand with the Atlanta Preservation Center. This will also serve as an important transit bridge for the light rail that will one day run along the BeltLine through three SAND neighborhoods, fitting as the neighborhoods of SAND were established as streetcar suburbs. We also continue to engage the BeltLine on the community’s behalf, advocating for the original vision to be fulfilled and ensuring our voices are heard as they update master plans for our neighborhoods and continue on the design and construction stage of the Southside trail.
